Sheri BestSheri Best, the CEO and guiding spirit behind Pier Head Associates, has been in the construction management and general contracting business for 30 years, a majority of that time with Pier Head.

Having learned her profession from the ground up, literally as well as metaphorically, she has carved out a unique position as a business leader in a field overwhelmingly dominated by her male counterparts. She also is deeply devoted to community service and professional advancement organizations.

Although continuing to play a very active role in day-to-day operations, Ms. Best is intently focused on business development and strategic objectives. A lifetime New York-area resident, Ms. Best began her career in Manhattan at Two Bridges Associates, where, over the course of eight years, she acquired the knowledge and skills associated with job cost analysis and accounting, contract negotiations, materials sourcing and project coordination.

At Pier Head, serving as project executive for high-end residential, commercial and non-profit interior renovations, Ms. Best has forged long-term relationships with leading property owners and developers, property and asset managers, and other industry service providers, including many of the city’s finest subcontractors.
Ms. Best earned a bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University’s Douglass College. She has completed continuing professional education courses in fields that include OSHA safety regulations, sustainability, and construction management.

Ms. Best is a trustee of the non-profit Housing and Services, Inc., a 25-year-old organization that develops and manages housing and provides social services for the chronically homeless in New York; co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee and a member of the board of CREW-NY (Commercial Real Estate Women); and a strong supporter of  NEW – Non-traditional Employment for Women, which trains and places women in careers in the skilled construction, utility and maintenance trades. Let's talk

BRUNO MENDOZA

SVP & DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Bruno_Bio_photoBruno Mendoza, with more than 20 years of experience in virtually every phase of construction, is the ultimate “hands on” project overseer, taking a perfectionist’s approach to all aspects of a program.

Born in Lima, Peru, to a family long immersed in the construction industry, Mr. Mendoza came to the United States on a student visa, having earned a soccer scholarship to Georgia Tech University.  A national construction firm, recognizing his passion for the industry and his rapidly growing skills set, then offered a position that enabled him to remain in the United States.

Over time, Mr. Mendoza was assigned to significant projects in various parts of the nation, including New York City, and quickly gained broad experience. Imbued with his family’s sense of entrepreneurship, he eventually settled in New York and headed his own construction firm for several years, before joining Pier Head Associates as Director of Construction, running day-to-day field operations and logistics.

Mr. Mendoza holds multiple licenses and certifications from the NYC Department of Buildings for the various types of Rigging and Scaffolding, extensive OSHA and Site Safety Training, and several Trade Union affiliations.

His major projects in New York have included:

•    Macy’s, at various locations in New York Metropolitan area
•    New York University and NYU Medical Center facilities
•    Weill-Cornell Medical College,
•    New York-Presbyterian Hospital
•    School Construction Authority, Dormitory Authority
•    Numerous privately owned real estate portfolios in the five boroughs

One of the by products of Mr. Mendoza’s intense affinity for New York and its real estate and architecture is his special expertise in façade restoration, including landmarked historic structures. This experience has helped to make Pier Head one of the premier firms for Local Law 11 compliance.

An outstanding high school athlete, especially as a striker in soccer, Mr. Mendoza still loves the game and believes many of the strategic, tactical and teamwork lessons learned on the field are applicable to building a business, motivating staff and keeping clients well served.

“Bruno brings a complete range of skills to every project, from budgeting and scheduling to materials sourcing and quality control,” says Pier Head’s president and CEO, Sheri Best. “His focus is on providing the best possible customer service, using ingenuity and technical depth for problem solving, and uncomprising standards for safety and code compliance at all times.”
